Do dishwashers need to be maintained?

Most people do not think about their dishwasher until it stops working.

Anyone who’s had some experience with commercial dishwashers has heard about limescale, that hard scale build-up you see on the different parts of the machine. Limescale is caused by calcium deposits and other minerals left behind when the hard water evaporates. Hardness is measured in grains per gallon of water and is referring to the minerals calcium and magnesium. The higher the levels of these minerals, the harder the water. The reason we see these chemicals bind to the machines in our kitchen is due to the heat used in them. The heat used in the process of our dishwashers and hot water heaters processes causes these minerals to harden and attach to surfaces in the pump, on the elements, inside the walls, and on wash and rinse arms.

This limescale can cause deterioration of parts and the machine itself if not removed. The process of using the correct chemicals and sanitizer needs to be done correctly to ensure safety for you and your customers.
